With the world opening back up post Covid we took the opportunity for a couple of visits out of main season to La Sagerie in the Manche , near Brécey. It’s been a regular haunt since 2009 and is a great place for a simple recharge of the batteries .
Normandy and nearby Brittany are great places for all manner of dining – with great seafood and meats on offer at a range of places. A simple “fix prix” to full on “a la carte”

It really is a peaceful bit of the world that never never seems to change . A favourite pastime is sourcing the ingredients to make meals . With two markets very close to the property there is always some inspiration to be had .

Over the years we have found some great places to eat out . Always good to spend that time with good friends Ian and Kay.

Cancale has been the scene of many epic food adventures. With Chez Victors at the end of the quai being visited many times. However it was sad to see it had changed hands this year. The food was just as good but the atmosphere and theatre of watching M.Arnaud work his restaurant missing I’m not sure if we will revisit or move on next time .

A walk around the lanes near La Sagerie to work the calories off is a must

There is of course a lot of history in the region . We were there over the D Day anniversary so we went up to the new British Normandy Memorial at Ver sur Mer on June 6th .
The memorial overlooks Gold Beach . It was great to see veterans attending age listen to the bands . Enough to bring a tear to the eye.
“Not Forgotten”

We also made a trip to the Brittany American cemetery. This mainly has burials from the breakout from Normandy. This visit we found a party of students accompanied by American veterans and various band and choirs.

Some more good food was sourced after our days out

Chilling in the garden is just the thing to recharge – until next time
