We had promised ourselves a revisit to the Rome after visiting back in 90s . This time we would also combine it with a stay at Florence.
Rome has so much history to see we had plenty of choice . October is a good time of year to visit in terms of weather as a result it’s also peak tourist season. The post Covid experience seems to mean you have to book for everything which reduces the spontaneity somewhat .

We had booked a guided tour of the Vatican which we enjoyed.

Following that it was the Vatican museum. Certainly it was far too much to take in over a few hours . It really was too crowded and you just got pushed along with the flow.

The Colloseum is a truly fantastic place to visit , chilling still when you think what went on there .

The monument to Vitoria Emmanuel. The view from the top across the city is wonderful . The unification of Italy museum is well worth a visit .

There is so much to see in the Eternal City
