USA ‘23 . Lancaster PA & Historicon

We had the opportunity to do another North America visit this summer to attend the wargaming convention at Lancaster Pennsylvania. We decided to tag on some extra days to cover off some of the American Civil War battlefields on the western side of Washington . This would be Gettysburg from 1863 , Fox Gap & Antietam from 1862 and Manassas from 1861 and 1862 .

We would also do the USMC museum at Quantico and the Smithsonian Air museum at Dulles and have some time to explore in Washington DC

First up , Lancaster in Pennsylvania and the Historicon Wargamers show .

Marriott on Penn Square where we stayed , that also host the 4,day convention

I was able to catch up face to face with a number of guys I meet virtually which made it a great social event.

There were a range of games covering all historical genres . A highlight for me was playing in Jim’s Sudan game with over a 1000 54mm figures

Historicon was a great experience , with lots of friendly gamers around – I made a few new contacts . I also ended up buying some stuff for my wargame collection from suppliers I don’t normally get access to in the UK .

And here are few more of the great games on view .

Next up Civil War battlefields
