The United States Marine Corps museum was also on my radar for this trip , and it was only a short run out from Manasses .
It covers the complete history from the creation of the Corps right through to its battles and challenges in modern time .
I think this is one of the very best military museums I have ever been to . It tells the story chronologically with various galleries . There was lots of actual kit , planes and vehicles. All of the mannequins were very life like . I was told they are modelled on Marines who fought /survived Tarawa in 1943 – but not sure how accurate this is as yet .

The main entrance foyer had some great displays















From there it was the story of the the Corps from its creation to the present day












Next it was WW1
Lots of bits on the 1918 battle of Belleau Wood . Where the Marines pick up their Devil Dogs name from











Of course WW2 saw lots of action in the Pacific
